Dan Wagstaff runs the books and publishing blog The Casual Optimist. We generally have soft spots for people who've lived and breathed books all their lives, and Wagstaff is no exception.

If you love books — physical or digital, how they look, how they feel, or how they make you feel, you'll enjoy The Casual Optimist. Our absolute favourite aspect of the blog is how much it fetishises book cover design and highlights key issues facing the industry without drying them out.

Some readers like to read reviews and find out as much as they can about authors without actually stalking them — and some don't. The Casual Optimist looks at books and the business of publishing in a way that anyone interested in the reading experience will appreciate. Whether you're a digital warrior who thinks print is dead or an aspiring designer seeking inspiration, there will be something there to excite debate or make your jaw drop in awe.
