You don't steal pop culture, pop culture steals you.

We're excited about The Rumpus, an online culture magazine that prefers thoughtful writing about cultural phenomenon over being the first to break the news.

There are far too many thought- and controversy-provoking pieces on The Rumpus to highlight any favourites (and, in any case, there's a helpful popular posts sidebar), but it's safe to say — and you can see it for yourself on their About page — that they aren't interested in pop culture for its own sake. As a result, we've been introduced to authors, poets, musicians and artists we've never heard of. Always a good thing!

Those Stateside also get to attend events like the Monthly Rumpus in San Francisco, featuring readings, music and special performances. We could definitely do with a hoopdance the next time Canongate hosts IRREGULAR.
