Are you tired hearing about million-copy selling 'blockbuster' novels and celebrity biographies? Are you fed up with being on long waiting lists for books at the library? Do you want to be part of a movement that discovers the next Richard Yates?

If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, Neglected Books should be right up your alley. Its aim is to read and review books that have been "neglected, overlooked, forgotten, or stranded by changing tides in critical or popular taste."

A huge number of books have been listed on this site (the first entry was in July 2006), along with plenty of relevant news and reader recommendations. One of our favourite sections is Justly Neglected?, which considers that some books may have been overlooked by the market for good reason.

Neglected Books also lists many publishers who have undertaken to bring these forgotten classics (modern or otherwise) back into print and hopefully find new audiences. So here's to Neglected Books and other dedicated readers who buck literary trends!
