A few of Canongate's staff shared the books they're excited about in 2010.
I can’t wait to read Andrea Levy’s The Long Song (Headline Review, February). I loved Small Island, her World War II tale, and I’m looking forward to seeing what she does with this story of slave girl July, working on a sugar plantation in Jamaica during the last years of slavery. Scribbles
I am excited about Joshua Ferris's new book The Unnamed (Viking, February). Its the story of a man who walks out on his seemingly perfect life only to discover that there is no going back. AngelaI've been lucky enough to lay my hands on an early copy of The Unnamed, the new book by Joshua Ferris (Viking, February). I loved Then We Came To The End, and Ferris's second book is just as fresh and original, with the same mix of darkness, humour and striking prose. Anna
I'm really excited to read Alan Warner's new novel The Stars in the Bright Sky (Jonathan Cape, May). I loved The Sopranos and this follows the same characters as they hit their 20s. Follow-ups can sometimes be glorious, sometimes not - so I'm really excited to see how this one works out. Kirsty
I'm looking forward to the comedy-noir novel At The Chime of a City Clock (Constable & Robinson, March), set in 1930s Bayswater. I should also be getting my copy of Robin Sloan's crowdfunded book - Annabel Scheme - soon and I'm really excited about that. Pan Macmillan is re-issuing Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian (January) and I am definitely getting my hands on more novels by this amazing author. Spex
