This edition of Site of the Week is a little different from our usual offering. American female-centric network Women on the Web publish a fantastic, bite-sized book recommendations section, Words Move Me.

If you were ever interested in what writers such as Mary Higgins Clark and Christopher Buckley, or actresses Marlo Thomas and Candice Bergen would say about books that have been important to their lives, a quick visit to Words Move Me will be enlightening indeed. We enjoyed the candour with which those interviewed have shared their enduring favourites and here is one recent example:

I was five when my father read Heidi to me, one chapter at a time. It opened up a new world to me. I was in Alabama, hearing about a little girl living all the way across the world in the snow mountains of Switzerland.  I've loved stories ever since!
Fannie Flag, author of Fried Green Tomatoes
