Since Africa is the continent we're visiting with our Literature World Tour this month, what better site to note this week than the African Review of Books?
Aimed at the general public as a forum for discussion and debate on African publishing and scholarship, the ARB welcomes contributors from all over the world who have an interest in Africa. Through the books published in or about Africa, contributors share their thoughts on the issues facing Africa both in its history and present day, including politics, culture, economics, education, health and the environment.
While most writing about Africa tends to be non-fiction scholarship, the site provides a valuable look at how literature has dealt with this enormous continent. We hope to see a review of Man Booker-shortlisted Summertime on the site fairly soon – why don’t one of our Meet At The Gate readers contribute a review to ARB?
