We were delighted to discover that Stephen Fry, Mega-Tweep-Extraordinaire, had plugged David Eagleman's Sum this morning. We thought his followers would re-Tweet a lot and David would now get the media attention his remarkable book of short stories deserves. BBC Radio 4 programme Today also Tweeted about Sum (David Eagleman was their feature guest this morning).

If anyone was sceptical about the power of Twitter before, they shouldn't be now. With the combination of Tweets and re-Tweets from two highly-respected Twitter profiles, Sum zoomed up Amazon UK's charts by an astonishing 238,900% in just a few hours, and is currently sitting at #2 on their Books bestseller list - just below Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol.

Marketing on Twitter sometimes gets bad press (and it's justified some of the time). Sum is truly an excellent collection of stories, and we think it's the quintessential example of how word-of-mouth works on Twitter!

And if you're not yet convinced by Stephen Fry's promise to eat 40 hats if you aren't enchanted, here's the first story, thoughtfully entitled Sum.
