September 13 is Roald Dahl Day. While Dahl was best known for his delicious children's novels (see our favourites below), he also wrote many tales for older readers with his trademark wit and unexpected plot twists.

This year's Roald Dahl Funny Prize features a great group of nominees, including Little Britain's David Walliams, who's written a book (unsurprisingly) titled The Boy in the Dress.

The list reads:

We salute Roald Dahl for bringing dark and delicious literature to children and helping them become lifelong book lovers - many of whom clearly work at Canongate!
