Jessa Crispin has a promiscuous love and the objects of her desire are books. Jessa started up Bookslut nearly ten years ago because she wanted to be sent free books. Now a minor celebrity, she is an institution in online publishing and the world of literature.

The web is home to hundreds of sites that talk about, pick on, poke at and generally mull over books, writers and writing. It would be impossible to list - much less describe - all of these destinations (although we're giving it a go with our ongoing Site of the Week feature). However, one of the most talked-about and well-established literary sites is Bookslut.

Although it sounds like an adults-only website that services fans of Madame Bovary, Bookslut is actually a friendly literary destination that aims to provide 'insightful reviews, commentary on trends, update news and a lot of silliness.' Bookslut is both a monthly web magazine and daily blog dedicated to those who love to read. They provide a constant supply of news, reviews, commentary, insight, and more than occasionally, opinions.

If you've got a website or podcast you'd like to submit for Site of the Week consideration, send us an email (make sure the recipient is Website enquiries).
