The start of May brought the announcement of the winners of two wonderful competitions: the Fish Poetry and One Page Story Prizes.
The prize-winning and shortlisted works will feature in the 2009 Fish Anthology, alongside new work by Peter Fallon and Colum McCann - an awe-inspiring writer whose story 'Phreak' blew me away when it appeared in the Paris Review a few months back and whose novel, Let the Great World Spin, will be published by Bloomsbury next month.
The first-place authors this year are Bernadette M Smith, for her story 'In the Car', and Annie Atkins, for her poem 'The Locksmith'. For full lists and details, please see below:
