While not strictly a site on its own, the Indie Writers Deathmatch 2009 is a force to be reckoned with all on its own, pitting writers against each other in a short story contest.
Eight writers battle it out in creative short fiction over seven keyboard-twitching rounds to be crowned the Winner of the deathmatch, and registered members log in to vote for and comment about their favourite.
Hosted by broken pencil magazine, this is a simple and brilliant idea. Known as a guide to 'zines, broken pencil reviews underground media, including websites, books, 'zines, music, films - anything that is created independently in the name of art and culture. Toronto's always been a groovy place for the arts, and broken pencil makes it just that much better.
