Just when things couldn’t really get any worse for John McCain, Will Ferrell made his TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE as George W. Bush. Dubya was making a special announcement to pledge his support for ‘McRage’ and the ‘hot lady’ in the contest against ‘the Tiger Woods guy’. Josh Brolin has his work cut out matching Ferrell’s pitch-perfect impersonation in Oliver Stone’s biopic W as far as I’m concerned.

Some argue that Ferrell is only really good at playing Will Ferrell, but whether he’s lampooning Bush on CLIMATE CHANGE or PLAYING FRISBEE with Condi, he has the speech pattern, gestures and screwing-one-side-of-his-face-up totally down. Rumour is that he’s going to play Bush in a one-man Broadway show in January. That’s worth a trans-Atlantic flight, surely?
That was Thursday night, and the SNL site has been crashing ever since. Tina Fey must be thanking her lucky stars for Sarah Palin, her resemblance is uncanny. So all that air time is good news for the new series of 30 Rock (no, I didn’t know it either, so that’s worked...), whereas Palin can’t even GET ENDORSED BY HER LOCAL PAPER.
And to top it all off, AL QUAEDA ARE CROSSING THEIR FINGERS that McCain will get in.
So even if the McCain campaign is on its death bed, at least great American satire is back in rude health (for a bonus check out spoof right wing Broadcaster Steven Colbert RIPPING INTO BUSH TO HIS FACE a couple of years ago at the White House Correspondents’ dinner).
